Simply Locums



Simply Locums is an innovative approach to the recruitment sector. For many years, multiple industries have become accustomed to going through third parties who don't necessarily have the most up to date information about the particular marketplace. Simply Locums is specifically rooted in the veterinary profession, which is a small niche market but the success of the model here demonstrates massive implications across the board. It is a free service to candidates (nothing new there), but paying customers (veterinary practices) pay a flat low rate annual fee rather than large percentages on a case by case basis for permanent roles and there are no hidden day rates on top of a contractors own rates, thus meaning clients on both sides of the fence maximise their savings and don't lose out to a third party fee.

What prompted you to develop it?

The decision to launch Simply Locums was based on working in so many veterinary practices as a contractor myself and the same constant issues: a lack of accountability of agencies for the quality of the candidates supplied, extortionate fees and poor service. I wanted to turn all of that on its head in an attempt to change the marketplace for the better.

Is it in production or use?

Yes. We are working at over 400 veterinary practices across the UK and over 800 vets and nurses within our first 18 months.

Who inspires you?

I am sure many people consider world leaders, innovators and the famous, but my primary inspirations are actually my grandfather and my dad (from different sides of the family). Both of whom wanted to make positive changes to their lives and went out and put in the hard work to facilitate it.

What do you hope to achieve in developing this innovation?

I hope to impact the veterinary recruitment crisis, enabling practices to save significant sums that they can reinvest or keep as profits, and equip vets and nurses with ALL of the honest information that they require to be able to have a happy successful career. As the business seems to be proving its worth in this small market, it is easily extended into other markets that can be equally as positively impacted. Put bluntly and cheerily, I am hoping change the landscape of recruitment across the UK (and maybe even the world).
